Thank You! Center Celebrates Progress in Fundraising/Space Campaign

March 31, 2024

Today, we have a lot to celebrate! Our team has been hard at work creating partnerships, raising funds, and identifying a safe space to call our own. Thanks to the amazing support of our community, we’ve raised $2205, as well as $375 in recurring donations to support our ongoing rent and expenses.

  • We’re fortunate to have a donor providing a match up to $750.00 this month. One-time donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar and recurring donations will matched at $2 per $1 raised. We currently will get a match of $375. Will you help us cross that $750 match mark with a donation today?
  • In addition, we’ve been able to file our 501(c)3 application and have joined CenterLink, the national association of LGBTQ+ Community Centers that provides support to Centers like ours.
  • We’ve identified at least two agencies to receive Safe Space training, and we’re also partnering with local health providers and practitioners to start bringing health and wellness services to the Center on the 3rd Thursday of each month once we’ve opened the space.
  • We’re also slated to start hosting two community groups at the Center, including LGBTQ+ Connects and LGBTQ+ Up All Night as soon as we’ve secured the space as well.
  • The space we’re currently hoping to secure will be undergoing a final accessibility assessment this week. While we’re hopeful about the space, we’ve also identified at least one potential backup space just in case.

We’re excited about the amazing progress we’ve made in just two short months and look forward to reporting back soon. In the meantime, here’s how else you can help:

  • Center Space Alternatives – If you know of a space for rent in Greenville/Darke County that has 1-2 meeting spaces, 1-2 offices, accessible entrances and restrooms (i.e. first floor or elevators), and is less than or around $800 including utilities, please let us know. We’re committed to securing a space for the Center as soon as possible and hope to open in April.
  • Health and Wellness Partners – We’re currently planning to host health and wellness providers at the Center on the 3rd Thursday of each month. If you are an agency or provider that would like to connect with and provide services to the LGBTQ+ community in Darke County, please contact us to join in.
  • Safe Space Trainings – We’ll be hosting a Safe Space Train the Trainer program as soon as the Center opens. If you would like to be a part of providing Safe Space trainings to help create a more inclusive and welcoming Darke County, please join our team.

Thank you again to the amazing volunteers, donors, sponsors, and partners who have already joined together to bring our vision of opening a safe, welcoming, inclusive LGBTQ+ Community Center in Darke County.
